The various packer systems generally consist of a packer tube, covered by a piece of rubber made of natural caoutchouc, silicone caoutchouc or similar.
Depending on the type of packer, this piece of rubber is pressed against the bore hole or tube wall by compressing in the longitudinal axis (mechanical packers, piston packers) or by expanding with a suitable medium such as compressed air, nitrogen, water, oil etc. (hose packers and sleeve pipe packers). A connection is created to the cavity closed off by the packer via the packer tube, so that fluids or gases can be pressed and extracted or so that measuring probes and cables can be passed through, for example.
As one of our products we would like to introduce the Stand-Pipe Multi-Packer (SPMP) from Solexperts, Switzerland:
The SPMP system consists of casing and packer modules with
integrated stand-pipe guides. Each module can be fitted with up
to ten 16.5mm ID stainless-steel standpipes. All module and
stand-pipe connections are fitted with double o-ring seals. The
modules are fastened together with convenient swivel-nut
couplings.
Once the basic system is installed, a variety of accessories can be
inserted into the standpipes including:
- Pressure Transducers
- Sample / Purge Pump
- Bailer
- Down-hole Sampler (for collecting samples at formation depth)
All down-hole accessories, such as pressure transducers and
sampling pumps, can be removed for calibration, maintenance or
repair without disturbing the basic installation.
